"There are many ethnic minorities living in China's Liangshan Prefecture, Sichuan, with the Yi people being the most populous and having the longest history of residence in the region. Liangshan, as one of China's satellite launch bases, is geographically endowed with excellent stargazing conditions. Looking back at the history of the Yi people, we find that this ancient ethnic group has a deep-rooted connection with astronomy and stargazing."

然而彝族在天文学上的造诣却鲜为大众所知。且随着时代的发展,如今许多的彝族青少年对于自己民族的天文知识也鲜少关注

"About us"

Link: Stargazer is the second academic sub-activity under the LINK organization. On our website, we have compiled the history of Yi astronomy through extensive research and scholarly papers, covering topics such as cosmology, ethnic calendars, and star knowledge. We have also studied ancient Yi astronomical texts to create a modeling and programming system using Stellarium. This system reconstructs the star patterns observed in the Liangshan region from ancient times to the present, offering the public an immersive experience of the Yi people's stargazing practices and the joy of astronomy.

Additionally, we have distilled the findings of our research into the history of Yi astronomy, along with basic astronomical and stargazing knowledge, into easy-to-understand reading materials. These are distributed to local schools in Liangshan, enabling Yi children to learn about their ethnic group's rich astronomical heritage and scholarly achievements. This initiative aims to spark their interest in the civilization of their homeland and inspire their exploration of the cosmos and astronomical knowledge.
